Think big, act small.

As teams grow, retaining the entrepreneurial mindset is crucial. People often mistake acting big for thinking big and lose their agility. David Hieatt captures this beautifully in his micro-blog, Be A Speedboat — and it's a lesson worth remembering as you scale.

Last week, I spoke with a founder replatforming from Magento to Shopify who was grappling with back-end tech choices. My advice: There will always be gaps in any tech. Strategy is about choosing the right trade-offs, not chasing perfection.

Right now, the decision between Shopify Markets or managing separate stores is a hot topic. We've been automating markdowns, managing multi-currency pricing and using AI translations to smooth the transition from multi-store setups. Speed wins when it comes to closing a gap and advancing your tech stack.

Vendor Highlight: DigitalGenius

If you're scaling customer service beyond £30M, you will need more than Gorgias to prevent you from feeling like you're hiring a small army when it gets to peak. The DigitalGenius value prop I've interpreted is pretty simple: The AI-Agent does the job of 5+ Customer Service agents. If you're starting to feel like adding more people isn't the answer, maybe DG is.
